The “Blossoming. Dancing Cherry Blossoms” themed train is scheduled for March 20 and 27, with a trip cost of NT$1,200 per person. This includes the forestry railway fare, high mountain tea and snacks, lunch, a handmade cherry blossom string art card, and the guide fee. There are only two sessions available, each limited to 100 participants—this is a rare opportunity.
By joining the “Blossoming. Dancing Cherry Blossoms” flower season themed train, participants can experience the limited “steam locomotive and cypress wood carriages formation” on the Zhaoping Line of Alishan. Throughout the journey, led by professional commentators, guests will ride a specially operated forestry railway train to explore the various flower-viewing spots and hidden gems within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area. Along the way, they’ll admire the crimson cherry blossoms lining the wooden boardwalk at the Duigaoshan Station, the Yoshino cherry blossoms at Zhushan Station and the Alishan Work Station, and will also visit the King Cherry Tree, the Three-Generation Tree, the Shouzhen Temple, and the Sisters Ponds, covering all the best flower-viewing sites.
Additionally, there are exclusive stops such as the spectacular viewing spot for Mt. Tower and layered sea of clouds — Erwanping Station — and a visit to what railway enthusiasts call the “Tunnel from Spirited Away,” reminiscent of a scene from a Studio Ghibli animation, fulfilling every train fan’s dreams. There’s also a special stop at Mt. Ogasawara to enjoy the magnificent 360-degree panoramic mountain views, along with tastings of high mountain tea and delicate desserts. Online ticket sales for the “Blossoming. Dancing Cherry Blossoms” themed train open four to fifteen days before the departure date and can be booked via the Alishan Forest Railway online ticketing system.
Due to the effects of a warm winter, the cherry blossoms on Alishan have bloomed earlier than usual, with the flowering period lasting until early April. Travelers hoping to see the blooms are advised to plan their visit soon.
