In recent years, the booming eco-industry in Taomi Eco-village has significantly increased the number of visitors to the Taomi community. With support from the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, the Taomi Pit Creek Trail — which links the parking lot to the community and carries the memories of the resilient efforts by Taomi residents to develop an eco-village after the 921 earthquake — has been upgraded from a gravel and dirt path to a solid, safe, and ecologically preserved beautiful trail. It has now been newly unveiled as the "Taomi Pit Creek–Butterfly Trail."

Taomi Pit Creek nurtures the rich ecological environment of the Taomi community. After the 921 earthquake, in order to develop the Taomi Eco-village, residents initiated a stream protection initiative and independently greened over 300 meters of riverside trail between the parking lot and the community. This riverside trail not only serves as a symbolic path representing the community’s collective efforts in eco-development, but also offers visitors an excellent route for strolling and enjoying the riverside scenery of Taomi. To improve the original gravel surface and enhance safety, the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Administration, after expanding its jurisdiction to include Taomi, invested funds for the first time to significantly boost both the safety and ecological value of the trail. A variety of butterfly-attracting plants such as spring everlasting, melastoma, and osmanthus were planted along the way to create a habitat for butterflies. Zhang, head of the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Administration, said: "We not only preserve the memories and emotional connection that local residents have with this trail, but we also hope to expand this riverside path into a community-based butterfly-watching route in the future, giving the green and slow-travel experience in Taomi a new starting point."

This riverside trail will be maintained by the New Homeland Paper Dome Learning Park, which will continue planting a large number of butterfly-attracting plants, striving to create a "butterfly at every step" butterfly ecological trail. Liao Jiazhan, chairman of the New Homeland Paper Dome Learning Park, said: "In the future, we will gradually transform the riverside trail into a cultural and creative art gallery, incorporating fun handmade markets and local specialty goods. We aim to turn this green corridor into a unique space for slow and leisurely living. Visitors can walk along the riverside trail to the community learning sites, experience the beauty of rich ecology, integrate with local culture, and build new opportunities for green industry development based on ecology, driven by industry, and embodied in culture."
