After experiencing an explosion and an unexpected deflation incident, the organizers of the Taoyuan Land Art Festival have decided, following an assessment, that due to poor weather conditions from today until Friday, the safety of the Yellow Rubber Duck is the top priority. It has been confirmed that the duck will not be inflated and launched into the water. The earliest possible time will be Saturday (November 9), when a decision will be made on whether to return the Yellow Rubber Duck to the pond based on the weather conditions of that day.

The Taoyuan Land Art Festival runs until this Sunday (November 10). The Yellow Rubber Duck, which experienced an explosion on November 1 and an unexpected deflation on November 4, has been confirmed not to be launched into the water from today until Friday. The organizers will prioritize the duck’s safety and will closely monitor the wind and weather conditions at the site in coordination with the Central Weather Bureau and the meteorological team from National Central University. Further decisions and actions will be made accordingly. If weather conditions allow, it is not ruled out that the duck may return to the pond before the festival concludes.
Father of the Duck, Florentijn Hofman, also called the organizers yesterday (5th), stating that the original design concept of the duck was for it to leisurely float on calm waters. Understanding the strong northeast monsoon conditions in Xinzhuang District in recent days, Hofman said that, based on safety considerations, the duck should not be forcefully displayed. Additionally, Hofman expressed his hope that Taoyuan might choose a more suitable season and environment to display his duck artwork again in the future. The organizers stated that after the conclusion of this Land Art Square Festival, they will further promote this idea so that the duck can once again make an appearance in Taoyuan’s ponds, giving those who missed seeing the duck’s adorable form a chance to view the artwork.
