The 2013 New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town was illuminated on the 22nd of last month, with a dazzling Christmas tree lighting show launched by the flying teddy bear and Santa Claus, along with a variety of brilliant festive lights and events. Within just ten days of opening, it attracted 550,000 visitors to enjoy the lights together. A series of joyful Christmas activities will reach their climax with this weekend’s “Joyful Night Christmas Concert,” where two concerts on Saturday and Sunday will pit EDM queen Jolin Tsai against ballad prince JJ Lin in a battle of popularity, atmosphere, and star power to rock the New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town. Everyone is invited to come to New Taipei City to experience an extraordinary Christmas atmosphere ahead of time.

While cross-year concerts in northern, central, and southern Taiwan are competing for top stars, New Taipei City has beaten them all by hosting the “Joyful Night Christmas Concert.” With an even more impressive lineup than the cross-year shows and a scale comparable to Taipei Arena, four dates—December 7, 8, 21, and 22—will feature headliners Jolin Tsai, JJ Lin, Jolin Tsai, and Show Lo, making it one of the most star-studded concerts in Taiwanese history. The first concert on December 7th will kick off the Joyful Night Christmas Concert series with back-to-back performances by female singers, leading up to the much-anticipated headliner “Queen” Jolin Tsai, who will deliver a stunning closing performance. It’s worth mentioning that until now, all four of Jolin Tsai’s songs, costumes, and performance content remain top secret, sparking widespread speculation. Also performing that day are the bright-voiced Lala Hsu, the powerful Voice Lee, the operatic Fish Leong, the quirky Wei Wei, the creative Afu, and the ethereal newcomer Bai An, delivering a concert full of both quality and energy. The second concert will be led by ballad prince JJ Lin, joined by steel-hearted Yan Jue to bring the Taipei Arena concert vibe to the outdoor stage, showcasing their cool dance moves. Other male vocalists like Xiao Yu, Fang Hung-pin, and Wei Li-an, also top online singer-songwriters, as well as the lively Free Style, the essential You’re the One by Chen Shih-an, will take turns performing.

Now in its third year, the New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town is setting the trend for Christmas celebrations. With 550,000 visitors in just ten days, the event organizers, the New Taipei City Government, also remind attendees that the venue is adjacent to Banqiao Station, which integrates train and metro services. Everyone is encouraged to use public transportation to arrive green and eco-friendly, in order to fully enjoy the passionate, dynamic, and joyful New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town. A large screen will also be set up on the new station section next to the Civic Plaza, serving as a secondary live concert venue. For those unable to attend in person, the organizers have arranged live streaming via SET TV, as well as simultaneous full coverage on Good Radio and YouTube’s New Taipei Travel Channel. The streaming times are from 18:00 to 21:30 on the evenings of December 7 and 8, and from 18:00 to 22:00 on the evenings of December 21 and 22.
During the concert period, traffic control measures will be implemented around the New Taipei City Government. From 13:00 on December 6 to 06:00 on December 9, the outermost lanes of Xinzhan Road between County Citizen Boulevard and Zhongshan Road will be closed in both directions. From 20:00 on December 6 to 06:00 on December 9, Xinzhan Road between County Citizen Boulevard and Zhongshan Road will be fully closed in both directions.
In addition, the New Taipei Travel fan page is holding a giveaway event. From now until December 23, visit the New Taipei Travel event page, select your favorite star, and leave a comment saying “I want to party with him at the 2013 New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town this Christmas!” for a chance to win limited-edition Christmas gifts such as autographed albums by Jolin Tsai, Show Lo, Jolin Tsai, and JJ Lin.
