As the excitement of the Lunar New Year holiday lingers, the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival is in full swing. The first event of the 2014 New Taipei City Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival kicked off on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, featuring the "Treasure Coin Sky Lantern," which symbolizes wealth and prosperity. This was followed by the second event scheduled for February 8th at Pingxi Junior High School, where a "Wishing Sky Lantern" made up of blessings in many different languages from around the world will be released. The grand finale on February 14th at Shifen Square will feature the adorable and heartwarming "Round Baby Sky Lantern." Each event of the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival plans to release 10 waves of lanterns, with a total of 4,300 lanterns across the three events.

To allow more people to share the sense of peace and happiness brought by sky lanterns, the "New Taipei Travelers" Facebook fan page has launched the "Lifetime of Happiness Ascends Hope to Fly" wish campaign. From now until February 23rd, anyone who posts their lifelong dream on the "New Taipei Travelers" fan page has a chance to win a NT$10,000 wish fulfillment fund or a small passenger blessing sky lantern charm (200 winners). To encourage everyone to make wishes early in the new year, fans who post their wishes before February 7th can also enter a draw for VIP lantern-release seats at the February 14th Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival (10 spots).
