Taiwanese tourism and cuisine have frequently appeared on the travel section of American news network CNN. This time, Taiwan’s delicious snacks are back in the spotlight. In CNN GO's feature "45 Must-Try Taiwanese Foods," a list of 45 beloved Taiwanese street foods is revealed. Besides braised pork rice, beef noodle soup, and oyster omelet taking the top three spots, milkfish, iron eggs, and pineapple cakes also rank in the top 10. Meanwhile, Wu Pao-Chun bread, boxed meals, and chicken wing rice rolls make their first appearance on the list.

As for the featured street foods, the top spot goes to braised pork rice — made with marbled pork cubes simmered in spices and soy sauce, then poured over steaming white rice for a truly addictive bite. The third-place dish, oyster omelet, combines Taiwanese oysters and eggs with a uniquely flavorful sauce, masterfully blending the ocean’s bounty with earth’s gifts.
Ranked from 4th to 10th are pearl milk tea, milkfish, danzai noodles, pan-fried buns, gua bao (pork belly buns), iron eggs, and pineapple cakes. Other entries include taiyaki (fish-shaped cake), rice ball snacks, oyster vermicelli, stinky tofu, shaved ice, herbal spare ribs, sausage in intestine, a-gei (fish cake on bamboo stick), chicken cutlet, as well as first-time selections like Wu Pao-Chun bread and boxed meals. Surprisingly, century egg — once ranked No. 1 on CNN’s "World’s Most Disgusting Foods" list — appears at No. 38 as century egg tofu. Pig’s blood cake, rated the world’s No. 1 weirdest food by British travel site VirtualTourist.com, ranks 31st.
