The “Taipei Yuan Zai” mini lantern, which spreads joy and happiness, is being given out daily starting now until February 14 at 9:00 AM in the plaza inside the main gate of Taipei City Zoo. Only 12,000 are available each day, and each person can receive one, while supplies last. In addition, the Taipei City Government has also released a “Taipei Yuan Zai Mini Lantern Assembly Demo” video to help both kids and adults easily put together the adorable Yuan Zai lantern.

To commemorate the birth of the giant panda “Yuan Zai,” the “2014 Taipei Lantern Festival” this year, for the first time, has designed 93,000 “Taipei Yuan Zai” mini lanterns in addition to the zodiac-themed lanterns. These are being distributed at the zoo, the Maokong Gondola Zoo Station, and the entrance plaza of the Shiyuan Ticket Gate at the Water Source Park.
The “Taipei Yuan Zai” mini lantern, which spreads joy and happiness, features Yuan Zai riding a YouBike – an eye-catching design where the wheels actually turn, and the bike basket holds bamboo leaves, a favorite food of giant pandas. The lantern brings Yuan Zai’s smile and energy to everyone during the Lantern Festival. Lanterns are available daily from now until February 14, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or until supplies run out, at the main gate entrance.
