A recent cold wave has enveloped Taiwan, and Hehuan Mountain has experienced continuous snowfall for four days. Not only has the snow accumulation reached a maximum depth of 50 centimeters, but the section of Provincial Highway 14A from Kunyang (28K) to the Hehuan Mountain Visitor Center (33K) has also become snow-covered and icy, allowing only vehicles equipped with snow chains to pass. Netizens planning to visit Hehuan Mountain this weekend must ensure their vehicles are fitted with snow chains. The Second Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways in Puli has also implemented road closures daily from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM between Cui Feng (18K) and Dayuling (41K).

The Hehuan Mountain highway has been interrupted due to heavy snow and ice, marking a rare scale of snowfall in recent years. Since the first snowfall of about 5 centimeters on February 10, the Wuling section of Provincial Highway 14A had accumulated over 10 centimeters of snow by the 12th, and by today, the snow depth in the Wuling section has reached half a meter. In addition, Yushan began snowing at 8:45 AM yesterday (13th), with snow accumulation reaching 16 centimeters around noon before tapering off. Snowfall resumed at 9:15 AM today (14th) and also stopped around noon, with the snow depth reaching 22 centimeters — the thickest snow accumulation on Yushan in nearly nine years.
