In recent years, domestic cruise travel has gradually gained popularity. Sun Princess, operated by Carnival Corporation & PLC, will set sail from Hualien this May as its home port, heading to Kobe and Okinawa in Japan. A total of three 9-day, 8-night inaugural voyages from Hualien are being offered. Coinciding with Mother’s Day, travel agencies are also launching special offers, with prices starting at NT$59,000 per person, and discounted rates from NT$37,900 per person. The Sun Princess, operating from Hualien as its home port, will launch three inaugural 9-day, 8-night voyages on May 4, 12, and June 5. Each voyage is limited to 200 passengers and will depart from Hualien, stopping at Kobe, Amami Oshima, Okinawa, Ishigaki Island, and finally returning to Hualien.

The Sun Princess has a tonnage of 77,000 tons and can accommodate up to 2,022 passengers. The ship features a steakhouse, self-servicebuffet, pizza restaurant, as well as wine and caviar bars. It also offers amenities such as a casino, fitness center, spa, stargazing open-air cinema, disco hall, and multiple performance venues, ensuring a delightful cruise experience.

Additionally, the itinerary includes four optional one-day shore excursions: take a private car from Kobe to visit Kyoto’s Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Arashiyama’s Togetsukyo Bridge while enjoying a yudofu (tofu hot pot) meal; visit Amami Oshima, the largest island in Kagoshima Prefecture; take a private car to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site — Shuri Castle Ruins and Gyokusendo Cave Kingdom Village in Okinawa; and tour Ishigaki Island, taking a private car to Yoridaki Observation Deck, with an optional glass-bottom boat ride to admire Japan’s Top 100 scenic ocean ecology and black pearl farms.
