Breeze Supermarket adopts a "direct-from-source" approach, gathering fresh ingredients from around the world to offer consumers an immediate gourmet experience. This time, they’ve invited Japan’s super-popular Kumamoto Prefecture mascot, KUMAMON, who will appear in person at Breeze Plaza GF Liqueur Plaza on March 8th at 17:00 and 19:00 for a total of two sessions. He will introduce Kumamoto Prefecture’s specialty sweet potatoes from Kyushu, Japan, and host a meet-and-greet event.

KUMAMON is the tourism ambassador character created by Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, to celebrate the full opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen. In 2011, he won first place in the Local Mascot Grand Prix with a whopping 280,000 votes. He then joined the Kumamoto Prefectural Government as the "Sales Department Manager." His birthday is March 12th, and he’s a friendly, humorous Pisces — a playful and adorable little boy who loves Kumamoto’s local delicacies.
During the meet-and-greet, KUMAMON will lead fans in demonstrating the cutest "KUMAMON Gymnastics," host a prize quiz with the audience, and those who answer correctly will have the chance to receive a hug from KUMAMON and take a commemorative photo. Limited KUMAMON balloons will also be given out on-site. Come give KUMAMON a big bear hug.

In addition to the fan meet-up, Breeze Supermarket will host a "Kumamoto Prefecture Specialty Exhibition and KUMAMON Merchandise Sales Event" on March 8th. The event will gather locally sourced specialties from Kumamoto Prefecture for consumers to try. Kumamoto Prefecture, located in the southern part of Kyushu at a lower latitude in Japan, enjoys abundant sunshine, which nurtures the "Kinjiro" variety. With its signature red skin and golden flesh, the sweet potatoes are known for their smooth and tender texture. These Kumamoto sweet potatoes, which can be boiled, grilled, steamed, or fried, are truly a crystallization of farmers' wisdom and hard work.

Additionally, there will be over 40 kinds of KUMAMON merchandise available, including his signature red-cheeked plush pillow and tote bag, to fulfill fans’ desire to collect them all. Kumamoto Prefecture specialties and KUMAMON merchandise will be sold in limited quantities on the day.
