After enduring the trials of winter, under the nourishment of abundant spring sunlight, various flower buds such as torch ginger, fragrant marigolds, saxifrage, and ink trees quietly adorn the branches, bloom, and bear fruit at the Neishuangxi Nature Center. The Taiwan blue magpies, dressed in sapphire blue, flit through the park in groups. Netizens can head to the newly renovated wooden boardwalk in the medicinal herb garden and may have the chance to observe these uniquely Taiwanese beauties around 3:00 PM daily.

Taipei City — Jing Shan Community’s “Maple” Red Is Simply Gorgeous
Located in the nursery area of Jing Shan Community in Shilin District, the Japanese “maple” trees have painted the entire valley red. The Taipei City Government Public Works Bureau Earth Engineering Office states that there’s no need to wait until autumn to travel far to Aowanda for maple viewing—now you can head to Jing Shan Community in Shilin to enjoy the first wave of spring maple beauty.
The red maple variety in Jing Shan Community is commonly known as “red-leaf dissected-leaf maple.” It is created by local growers grafting branches of Japanese maple onto the trunks of native Taiwanese green maples. The maple leaves feature five to seven deep lobes. There are two maple-red periods each year, in April and December, with the April period lasting the longest. The newly grown leaves of the Japanese maple are red, then gradually turn yellow and green, which is the opposite of the usual color change seen in common green maples.

Nantou County — Catch the Best Season to View “Yushan Azalea” on Hehuanshan
At this moment, the alpine flowers on Hehuanshan are gradually awakening from winter. Especially the Yushan azaleas in Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area are leading the way with their vibrant energy to welcome the high mountain spring. The red-and-white Yushan azaleas blanket the mountainsides, forming a sea of azaleas. The best viewing period lasts from now until the end of May.

Chiayi County — “Taiwan Lady’s Slipper” in Alishan Is Now in Full Bloom
It’s currently the peak blooming period for the exquisite treasure of Alishan National Forest Recreation Area—the “Taiwan lady’s slipper.” Visitors can admire the shy and delicate Taiwan lady’s slipper at the exhibit area near the Guest House and the Zhushan Sun Viewing Trail within the park. In addition, the simple and elegant azaleas are in full bloom, while the bright orange-yellow irises are passionately heralding the arrival of summer.
