The 2014 Taipei Night Market Food Festival promotion kicks off with a bang on June 6th (Friday)! To promote local night market cuisine and culture, and to ensure that the public can enjoy food without concerns about food safety issues, this year’s event specially partners with the “Taipei City Ingredient Registration Platform.” Through the fun activity of scanning QR codes, the transparent ingredient mechanism is introduced, allowing consumers to dine with peace of mind.

The first wave of this event strongly encourages participants whose names sound like or are homophones of ingredients to sign up. Examples include: “简基诞 (Jiandan, sounds like ‘egg’)”, “杨筱徘 (Yang Xiaopai, sounds like ‘lamb chops’)”, “梅盛彩 (Meishengcai, sounds like ‘romaine lettuce’)” — these fun and creative ingredient-inspired names aim to spark interest and attract more visitors to the night market events. Participants should visit the on-site service booth during the six major night market promotional days, show their ID to prove they qualify as having a “delicious ingredient name,” and upon approval, will receive one “NT$50 night market voucher” for free. (Limited to 10 per event session, while supplies last.)
