2014 Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Fiesta
In addition to the exciting opening light and sound music concert on May 30, the early morning of May 31 at 06:30 will be another highlight of the entire event. In addition to the much-anticipated black knight-shaped balloon making its debut at Luye Plateau, nearly twenty hot air balloons are scheduled to perform free flights that day, aiming to set a new record for the most hot air balloons flying freely in Taiwan at the same time. On the evening of May 31, sponsored by Fox Rent A Car and VOLVO Trucks, a mini light and sound music concert will be held again at Luye Plateau, and it will also be open to all members of the public. 2014 Zhuguang Taichung Prefectural Hall Scheduled Light Show
The 3D light and sound scheduled show “Dragon Boat Festival Blessing Edition” at Taichung Prefectural Hall will begin screening from May 31 until early July, airing every Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. With stunning 3D light art, it narrates the century-old charm of Taichung Prefectural Hall. In the classic version of the films, various festival segments such as the “New Year Greeting Edition” and the “Mazu Legend Edition” have been shown successively. Following the holiday, the “Dragon Boat Festival Blessing Edition” story, about 4 minutes long, will be aired. It offers citizens a festive experience full of folk culture celebration, and everyone is welcome to visit Taichung Prefectural Hall on Saturday evenings to enjoy this “Taiwan-exclusive” artistic feast.

After May, the production of calla lilies has decreased significantly. Calla lily fields are also entering their summer dormancy period and will go through root recovery, leaf growth, and flower bud differentiation in autumn and winter before blooming again in the following spring.

Tainan Baihe Lotus Season
Tainan Baihe Lotus Season, organized by the Tainan City Government, runs from May 22 to July 13 with a series of related activities. Don’t miss the chance to admire lotus flowers in Baihe, Tainan. Tainan’s Baihe District has the largest lotus cultivation area in Taiwan and is known as the “Lotus Township.” This year, thanks to the joint efforts of the city government and local lotus farmers, the lotus field area has expanded to over 350 hectares, with a dedicated lotus boulevard created and flower seas set up as part of the event.
Besides enjoying the beautiful lotus flowers, the lotus-themed cuisine in Baihe is a must-try delicacy. The district office also displayed popular lotus seed dishes at the press conference. Local businesses in Baihe have also developed various creative lotus seed products to tantalize taste buds, such as lotus root rice, pickled lotus, lotus seed desserts, and more. In addition to lotus rice dumplings, they offer sweet treats that perfectly complement the season. Visitors are encouraged to try the unique local flavors. The lotus flower fields and restaurants in the area also provide family-friendly settings.
