The Penghu National Scenic Area Administration (hereinafter referred to as the PNSAA) will hold the “Taiwan Summer Solstice 235: Gathering at Penghu’s Fishing Harbor Island Lantern-Lighting Music Feast Event” on Saturday, June 21, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Siyu Fishing Harbor Island Lighthouse. This event originates from the Tourism Bureau’s “Taiwan Summer Solstice 235” summer festival, which is a tourism marketing initiative organized by the Tourism Bureau across scenic areas located along Taiwan’s Tropic of Cancer. It aims to create a brand image centered around “coolness, tranquility, and energy-saving” during the summer season. Since the Tropic of Cancer passes through the southern waters near Huaping Islet in Penghu, the PNSAA also established the landmarks “I’m in Penghu, the Happy Sky Ladder” and “Happiness Closely (Huaping) Embraced” on Xishan of Huaping Islet last year, hoping to connect various tourist attractions on Penghu Island and boost tourism enthusiasm in the South Sea—specifically at Huaping and Tongpan Islets.

This year, on the evening of June 21, the PNSAA will host an event at the island’s oldest Siyu Fishing Harbor Island Lighthouse, where attendees can collectively admire the sunset over Siyu and participate in a lantern-lighting ceremony. The event will feature a live piano performance by Mr. Ma Yangwei, a native of Penghu from the National Taipei University of the Arts, as well as a saxophone and trumpet duet by the Jazz Duo Chen Xiren and Teacher Liu Jianhong of the Jazz Philharmonic Ensemble. These performances aim to offer distinguished guests a deep experience of the unique cool, tranquil, romantic, and energy-efficient green tourism environment that defines Penghu’s summer season. The administration hopes to continue innovating and showcasing the diverse faces of Penghu’s tourism, attracting more domestic and international visitors to explore the island.
