As the FIFA World Cup enters the Round of 16 knockout stage, football fever across Taiwan heats up even more. Although the Brazil World Cup matches are all broadcast in the early hours, to serve the legions of fans, Taipei Main Station Fashion Mall had originally planned to start showing the Round of 8 matches (rebroadcasts) within business hours starting July 5 (Sat)... but has decided to move it up three days, beginning broadcasts within business hours on July 2 (Wed), so that visitors from all over can enjoy the World Cup excitement together!

The Round of 8 teams have now been decided, with six countries — Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Costa Rica — securing their spots. The final two Round of 8 berths will be determined tomorrow (July 2)! Sensing the nationwide World Cup craze, Taipei Main Station, which had originally planned to start match broadcasts on July 5 (Sat), has moved up its schedule to show rebroadcasts of exciting Round of 16 matches within business hours starting July 2 (Wed). As the Round of 8 teams are confirmed, jerseys of eliminated national teams are now all discounted by 30%. For example, adidas jerseys of the Spain, Japan, Russia, and Mexico national teams, originally priced at NT$2,690, are now on special for NT$1,883.

Taipei Main Station observes that although these countries didn’t make it to the Round of 8, some fans still chose to buy their jerseys at the 30% discount as collectibles. Jerseys of stronger teams like Germany, Brazil, and Argentina were sold out just 2–3 days after the tournament began, leaving only themed T-shirts of those countries available for fans to cheer on their favorites. Additionally, Taipei Main Station has noted that brands launching World Cup-related merchandise this year have seen a noticeable boost in sales thanks to the tournament’s buzz, with average growth ranging from 20% to 50%. In addition to adidas, NIKE, and PUMA, brands like PONY and FILA have also benefited. Moreover, from July 10 to July 13, during the World Cup finals, Taipei Main Station has specially gathered a variety of well-known beer brands from both inside and outside the mall: Golden Wheat, 2014 World Cup official beer Budweiser, German Op&Top beer, Erdinger white beer, Belgian iki green tea yuzu ale, and dozens of other global brews — so you can enjoy a cold one while watching the matches!
