In response to the influx of visitors during the cherry blossom season at Tamsui Tianyuan Temple, the New Taipei City Department of Transportation has launched two shuttle bus services — “MRT Tamsui Station – Tianyuan Temple” and “Light Rail Tamsui Administrative Center Station – Tianyuan Temple” — from February 28 to March 31. This aims to reduce traffic congestion and parking difficulties caused by private vehicles, which can affect the cherry blossom viewing experience. Details of the two routes are as follows.

1. The first shuttle buses for both routes depart at 8:00 a.m. from MRT Tamsui Station and Light Rail Tamsui Administrative Center Station respectively, with the last buses leaving Tianyuan Temple at 5:00 p.m. The “MRT Tamsui Station – Tianyuan Temple” route runs approximately every 10–15 minutes during peak hours, while the “Light Rail Tamsui Administrative Center Station – Tianyuan Temple” route runs about every 15 minutes. Both schedules may be adjusted flexibly based on passenger flow to ensure efficient transit.

2. In conjunction with the operation of the Danhai Light Rail, a new shuttle bus service — “Light Rail Tamsui Administrative Center Station – Tianyuan Temple” — has been added. Visitors using the light rail to explore nearby attractions can easily transfer to the Tianyuan Temple shuttle bus at “Light Rail Tamsui Administrative Center Station (V07)” to reach the temple, without needing to go to Tamsui Station.
There is also a 1-hour transfer discount between the shuttle buses and the light rail. Additionally, the 1280-period ticket is valid for use. Furthermore, Tamsui Bus will feature cherry blossom-themed decals on the buses, complementing the floral atmosphere of the season.
Cherry blossoms at Tamsui Tianyuan Temple bloom in stages, starting with the pale pink winter cherry blossoms followed by the Yoshino variety. With mostly overcast weather expected during the 228 long weekend in northern Taiwan, those planning to enjoy the blossoms should make the most of both the holiday and good weather, and it's advisable to use public transport.
