Dongyue Cold Spring, a clear spring hidden beneath a railway bridge, is located in Dongyue Village, Nan'ao Township, and is a secret swimming spot beloved by locals.

Dongyue Spring was accidentally discovered in the 1990s during the excavation for the double-track project of the North-Link Railway. The engineering team specially diverted the spring water into Dong’ao Creek. Later, it was buried by landslides caused by typhoons but has recently been restored as a spring park. Currently, there is no entrance fee. However, during the summer vacation months of July, August, and September, food stalls selling cooked food and water play items are allowed inside. The approximately 100-ping pool is divided into three play areas with an average depth of about 0.5 meters. The spring water remains at a constant temperature of 14–16 degrees Celsius year-round—cooler than the 22-degree water of Su’ao Cold Spring. Thanks to its abundant flow, crystal-clear water, and nearby grassy areas, it’s a great destination for family outings and water fun.

 

The easiest way to get to Dongyue Spring is by taking a train to Dong’ao Station, from which it’s just a ten-minute walk. Although camping platforms can be found within Dongyue Spring Park, camping and barbecuing are currently prohibited due to concerns about pollution from being too close to the water source.
