Hualien Skywalk to Open Soon with a “Loose Boulder” Hanging Overhead

The newly constructed skywalk on the cliffs of Qinzhibuzi Cliff in Fengbin Township, Hualien County, has caused a stir even before its opening, and is currently scheduled for a trial run during the summer vacation. However, some locals have recently reported that there appears to be a potentially unstable “boulder” hanging above the walkway, posing a risk of falling.
The “Qinzhibuzi Skywalk” was originally an abandoned ancient path. It has now been transformed into a 150-meter transparent walkway made of H-shaped steel and reinforced glass. Walking on the transparent path not only offers the thrill of standing on a cliff edge but also provides breathtaking sea views, and is expected to attract tourists to this remote area. However, as surrounding infrastructure is not yet complete, it has not yet opened and is scheduled for a trial run during the 2016 summer vacation, with an admission fee of NT$40.

However, according to the Hualien Electronic Newspaper, some locals have reported that there is a large boulder hanging precariously above the skywalk, which may fall, and relevant authorities should conduct an inspection to confirm the stability of the boulder to ensure visitor safety.
As the skywalk has not yet opened, there have been reports of many adventurous people sneaking in. The Fengbin Township Office recently issued a stern warning on Facebook,“The construction of the skywalk is not yet complete, and facilities around the parking lot and tunnel are also unfinished. The Fengbin Township Office urges the public not to enter without permission to avoid danger.”At the same time, signs have been erected at the entrance of the walkway to remind visitors not to enter before it officially opens, in order to ensure their personal safety.
