Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng said that since the gas explosion, false rumors have spread online claiming that Kaohsiung is toxic, deterring many tourists and causing hotel occupancy rates to drop by over 30%. The tourism industry has been impacted. In fact, all major tourist attractions in Kaohsiung were unaffected, and the city remains beautiful. Suspended tourism activities are gradually returning to normal, and everyone is welcome to visit Kaohsiung.
