Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area is part of Shei-Pa National Park, situated at the junction of Wufeng Township in Hsinchu County and Tai’an Township in Miaoli County. At around 1,800 meters above sea level, the Guanwu recreation zone serves as the prime starting point and a must-pass location for viewing Mount Dabajian. The area is often shrouded in sea of clouds and mist, hence earning the nickname “Home of Clouds.”

To reach Guanwu, one must travel from Zhudong Town in Hsinchu County toward Wufeng Township. Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning and enchanting landscapes, including a sea of clouds that appears and disappears, floating unpredictably, showcasing the grandeur of nature. Blessed with abundant tourism resources, Guanwu has been developed into a forest recreation area, featuring multiple forest trails that lead to the 2,000-year-old Hinoki Sacred Tree, the Giant Tree Grove, waterfalls, and more. Visitors can also enjoy natural sights throughout the seasons, including sunrises. The mountain forests are home to many high-altitude bird species, making it a great spot for birdwatching. In addition, the region nurtures numerous plant and animal species that are unique to Taiwan or endangered worldwide.
