This 262-meter-long Sandimen Suspension Bridge, with an average height of 45 meters above the riverbed, is a joint effort by central, county, and township governments. The suspension bridge project is aided by the Red Cross Society, with a budget of NT$53 million. The surrounding approach road project and installation art are funded by NT$9.16 million from the Reconstruction Council, NT$3.5 million from the county government, and contributions from both Sandimen and Majia Township Offices. After completion, the old bridge will be retained but closed to the public.

On the 26th, the county government held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sandimen Suspension Bridge project in the parking plaza in front of Fuguwang Restaurant in Sandimen Township. The ceremony was presided over by Magistrate Tsao Chi-hung, Wang Ching-feng, President of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China, and Chen Chen-chuan, CEO of the Executive Yuan’s Post-Typhoon Morakot Reconstruction Council. Local figures including the Director of the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Park, Sandimen Township Chief Pan Sheng-fu, Majia Township Chief Chen Sheng-ming, and County Councilor Ko Fu-kuo also attended.Under the prayer and blessing of Pastor Lin Defu, it is hoped that the newly built suspension bridge will not only connect two tribes and attract visitors to boost tourism, but also make Sandimen once again a gateway for tourists to learn about Paiwan and Rukai cultures.
