The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has launched two rounds of winter travel subsidies to promote domestic tourism in Taiwan. It is now planning to introduce a spring travel program from April to June, open to all age groups, with a subsidy of NT$500 per person applicable across all counties and cities. Local governments may offer additional subsidies depending on the situation, allowing Taiwanese travelers to benefit from double subsidies.

Minister of Transportation and Communications Lin Chia-lung stated that besides subsidizing travel agencies and hotels, this year’s spring travel program will also encourage local governments to submit proposals, with an estimated budget of around NT$800 million.

According to the preliminary plan for the spring travel subsidy, there will be no age restrictions. Individual travelers will receive a subsidy of NT$500 per person, while group tourists can get up to NT$500 per person per day. The program applies to all counties and cities across Taiwan.

In addition, local governments are encouraged to provide extra incentives to boost local tourism activities, pending proposals and plans from county and city governments. The final spring travel subsidy plan is expected to be finalized by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications by the end of February.
