According to historical recordsThe Guanziling Hot Springs appear muddy due to the presence of muddy rock layers underground. During the Japanese colonial period, they were believed to cure all kinds of illnesses, earning them the titles “Spiritual Spring” and “Taiwan’s No. 1 Hot Spring.”Soaking in the hot springs of Guanziling not only helps relieve fatigue but also benefits skin beauty. Besides its famous hot springs, Guanziling also boasts a unique natural phenomenon—the Water-Fire Crater, also known as the Water-Fire Cave, where water and fire coexist in a remarkable natural landscape. The discovery of the Water-Fire Crater was recorded in the 1714 Zhuluo County Annals during the Qing Dynasty’s Kangxi reign, marking exactly 300 years ago. The surrounding Guanziling Scenic Area has long been celebrated for its beautiful scenery and has been a nationally renowned tourist destination since the Japanese colonial period. In the past, Tainan County also used this as its symbolic emblem, representing the harmony of water and fire. This year marks the 300th anniversary of its discovery, giving it special commemorative significance. Therefore, the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau has specially organized the “2014 Tainan Guanziling Hot Springs Festival and 300th Anniversary of the Water-Fire Crater Series of Events,” aiming to introduce the public to the rich 300-year history and culture of the Guanziling Hot Springs town.
