Spend a night in jail！The Dutch prison, built in 1862, was officially closed in mid-2007 and taken over by the VAN DER VALK hospitality group, which transformed the old prison into a four-star luxury hotel called Het Arresthuis. This Hotel Het Arresthuis, located in Roermond, the Netherlands (near the German border), still retains the characteristics of a prison both in its exterior and interior layout!

With its lazy lavender lighting, comfortable sofas, and elegant white chandeliers, it’s so cozy you won’t want to leave — it’s hard to imagine this place was once a full-fledged prison. The 19th-century Dutch prison originally had 150 cells, which have now been converted into 36 comfortable guest rooms and seven luxury suites, each with titles such as Warden’s Room, Guard’s Room, Judge’s Room, and Lawyer’s Room. Rooms include double beds, showers, air conditioning, individual coffee machines, and free WiFi. Staying at a prison hotel doesn’t require committing a crime, but it does come at a cost — a standard room goes for €138 per night, about NT$5,500.
