2014 Xinshe Flower Sea Festival Kicks Off – Romantic Blooms in 35 Hectares of Colorful Fields in Taichung

Taichung’s annual autumn tourism extravaganza is about to begin. The 2014 Xinshe Flower Sea and Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival will run from November 8 to December 7, spanning a full month that includes five weekends off.

This year’s Xinshe Flower Sea is planned with the festive spirit of a wedding, themed around “A Floral Wonderland Awaits Your Arrival.” The festival will showcase 5 hectares of vibrant flower fields, offering an endless sea of blossoms. The flower sea is divided into the “Sown Landscape Green Manure Area,” featuring green manure crops such as sunn hemp, sunflowers, and rapeseed, creating a dazzling golden pastoral landscape, and the anticipated cosmos field, where flowers sway gracefully in the breeze. Another section, the “Landscape Flowering Plants Area,” will feature a variety of flowering plants arranged in geometric patterns, highlighting their rich and colorful hues through contrasting layers of depth created by variations in elevation. Meandering pathways crisscross the area, allowing visitors to admire the floral beauty from multiple perspectives.

The 2014 Xinshe Flower Sea Festival, following tradition, will be held at the Second Nursery of the Taichung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (at the intersection of Xie Xing Street and Xing Yi Street) in Xinshe District. The flower carpet event, aiming to showcase the city’s tourism features and urban imagery highlights, draws inspiration from the vitality, healing power, and approachability of flowers, reflecting Taichung’s characteristics of a happy and creative city.To encourage visitors to take public transportation, shuttle bus services will be available during holidays at three pick-up points: Taiyuan Parking Lot, Fengyuan Railway Station, and Dongshi Riverside Park. This year, the Taiyuan Parking Lot will also provide shuttle services on weekdays. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the romantic flower sea in Xinshe.
