This survey is based on real accommodation review scores filled out by international Agoda.com guests after checkout, showing significant differences in accommodation quality across popular global destinations. Cape Town in South Africa topped the list of global tourist attractions* with an impressive average score of 8.43, making it the top choice for honeymooners. The Maldives, known as a paradise for honeymoons, closely followed with 8.33 points, just 0.1 point behind. Zermatt, a ski resort in the Swiss Alps, ranked third with an average score of 8.29. And Taiwan didn’t disappoint either—Hualien stood out with 8.03 points and claimed third place in all of Asia!

The beauty of Hualien is obvious to all, captivating even international visitors. Hungarian travelers, in particular, were deeply enchanted by Hualien’s breathtaking scenery and hospitality, giving it a high score of 8.24. Mainland Chinese travelers also seemed to love it, rating it 8.09, which is above the overall average. However, Taiwanese travelers may be their own harshest critics, giving Hualien’s accommodations only 7.83 points—0.2 points lower than the overall score.

Interestingly, high-end and luxurious accommodations are not necessarily the key to earning high ratings. The second and third-ranked destinations, the Maldives and Zermatt, are both known for their premium hotels and resorts. But among the 25 hottest destinations with the best accommodations as selected by Agoda.com travelers, many cities stood out thanks to affordable, high-value lodging options.
Take Cape Town, the top-ranked destination, for example. Some of the highest-rated accommodations there are actually budget-friendly guesthouses and boutique hotels. In Budapest, Hungary, relatively low Eastern European prices allow travelers to stay in satisfying hotels for under NT$3,000 and still enjoy Europe’s stunning landscapes. Hoi An, Vietnam, which won the Asian championship, is full of small, affordable guesthouses where travelers can enjoy unforgettable trips without breaking the bank.
