Jimmy Liao’s series of picture books have accompanied children and adults alike through many memorable moments, with each whimsical tale hiding heartwarming stories about human connections. In recent years, Jimmy Liao’s art has stepped beyond the pages of his books, with warm and touching dioramas and murals spread across Taiwan. Aside from Yilan’s Jimmy Liao Plaza and Bixiliran, Hualien’s well-known hotel operator, Hanting Hotel, has also collaborated with Jimmy Liao to bring scenes from his books into the hotel, making guests feel as though they’ve stepped into the world of Jimmy Liao’s picture books.

Hualien Hanting Hotel takes inspiration from Jimmy Liao’s picture book *Hug*, featuring installations throughout the property that depict animals and children embracing warmly. These include the red lion and boy at the entrance, the pink pig and boy in the lobby, the rabbit and rabbit-costumed child by the pool, and the frog prince and little princess in the ecological pond—ten installations in total, spread both inside and outside the hotel, filling every space with a loving and warm atmosphere.
