When it comes to popular ramen in Japan, Ippudo and Ippudo Ichiran are usually the first names that come to mind. But if you’re talking about the top ramen in Kansai, you can’t miss “Kami-za Ramen” (神座ラーメン). Established in Osaka in 1976, it has long been considered the most delicious ramen by many in the Kansai region. While it originally focused on the Kansai area, Kami-za Ramen has recently expanded into the Kanto region, and you can now enjoy it in Tokyo too!

Some people find Japanese ramen to be generally heavy in flavor, but trying Kami-za Ramen’s vegetable-based broth offers a completely different experience. The broth, simmered with plenty of cabbage, is sweet and delicious. The flavorful char siu (pork slices) and generous serving of bean sprouts bring a refreshing, crisp vegetable texture that leaves no heavy feeling even after finishing the whole bowl. Toppings such as green onions, seaweed, onsen tamago (hot spring egg), and pickles can also be added according to your preference.
