Tainan’s Beimen area has become popular among locals in recent years thanks to attractions such as the Crystal Chapel and wedding-themed art installations. Beyond these spots, there’s another hidden mangrove ecological gem nearby — the “Shuangchun Coastal Recreational Area” — that’s well worth a visit. The recreational area is currently in a trial operation phase and will be open to the public for free until the end of June. It's perfect for a seaside outing, and in the future, it will also develop travel themes centered around love and island weddings.

The Shuangchun Coastal Recreational Area lies between the Bazhang River and the Jishui River, at the northernmost coastal area of Tainan City. It’s about a five-minute drive from Nanxiandian Taisu Temple and is easily accessible. Due to the area’s rich natural landscape and ecology, the government has planned this site to include educational and recreational features. The park includes a service center, parking lot, boardwalks, and rest pavilions. Visitors can walk along the boardwalks to observe up close local mangrove species such as Kandelia obovata, Avicennia marina, Lumnitzera racemosa, Lumnitzera littorea, as well as wildlife like fiddler crabs and mudskippers.

Currently, the Shuangchun area is in trial operation until the end of June, and entry is free for visitors. After further redevelopment, the Shuangchun Recreational Area is expected to become a themed travel destination focused on romance, love, and island weddings, complementing the nearby Crystal Chapel, known as a top bridal photo spot in Beimen. The area will also feature seaside restaurants, souvenir shops, ecological trails, and outdoor activities such as archery, bicycle rentals, and dune buggy rides. The Tainan City Tourism and Travel Bureau stated that visitors who drive can take the recently fully opened Provincial Highway 84 or Provincial Highway 61 (West Coast Expressway) to reach Beimen. They can plan a one-day trip around Beimen that includes the Shuangchun Recreational Area, Nanxiandian Taisu Temple, Zhenzi Foot Salt Fields, and the white Crystal Chapel.
