Hualien Hosts "Wild Hope Primary School" Event: Spy on Penguins Up Close with "Hidden Cameras"

The general public usually perceives penguins as adorable creatures waddling around cutely and clumsily; however, few know about the many challenges and hardships they face in life. On June 18 and 19, the Hualien Forest District Office will hold two sessions of the "Wild Hope Primary School" ecological event at the Cidan National Forest Recreation Area. In addition to screening the Wild Hope Film Festival movie "Penguins: Spy in the Huddle," the event will also feature ecological games and DIY activities.

The "Wild Hope Primary School" event is organized in collaboration with the Taiwan Wild Hope Nature Communication Society and will screen the award-winning ecological documentary "Penguins: Spy in the Huddle" from the Wild Hope Film Festival. The film uses various life-sized "disguised penguin cameras" or fake rock cameras to secretly infiltrate penguin colonies, capturing intimate insights into their emotional world, quirky behaviors, and struggles for survival.

Guided by forest volunteers, participants will not only analyze the film but also engage in fun ecological games and DIY activities to enrich the documentary experience and gain a deeper understanding of the messages it conveys. The Wild Hope Film Festival believes that "knowledge is the most powerful tool for conservation" and hopes that the two-day event will help both children and adults learn more about ecology.
