Purple wind chimes in bloom — yellow foxgloves cover the hills

With summer’s arrival, yellow foxgloves burst into bloom across the land. Throughout the Daxue Mountain National Forest Recreation Area, clusters of these purple bell-like flowers can be seen dotting the wild landscape. Swaying gently in the mountain mist and breeze, these floral wind chimes seem to play the music of nature.

The Daxue Mountain Forest Recreation Area is located southwest of the Snow Mountain Range and was one of Taiwan's most important early forestry hubs in central Taiwan. It boasts rich forest vegetation and diverse ecosystems. In spring, main forest roads and trails are adorned with mountain pepper blossoms, azaleas, and Musha cherry blossoms, offering a refreshing and delightful experience. From May to July, visitors can admire the bell-shaped yellow foxgloves in full bloom. Due to their strong adaptability and reproductive ability, yellow foxgloves are among the most common landscape plants in mid-to-high altitude mountainous areas, with their vibrant blooms standing out brilliantly against the forest backdrop. However, it is important to note that all parts of the yellow foxglove plant are toxic, so they should only be admired from a distance and not picked.
