International Museum Day 518 – Over 90 Museums Across Taiwan Offering Discounts & Free Entry

In celebration of International Museum Day on May 18, over a hundred museums across Taiwan are offering discounts and free entry, as well as hosting various events on May 17 and 18. These include the National Palace Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and many other venues. Take advantage of the weekend and plan an arts and culture mini-trip for yourself!

[New Taipei City]
◎ New Taipei City’s Tamsui Historic Museum, Gold Museum, Sanxia Old Street Museum, Yingge Ceramics Museum, National Heritage Site Lin Ben Yuan Family Mansion, and Taipower Northern Exhibition Hall offer free admission on 5/17.
◎ The Preparatory Office of the National Human Rights Museum offers free admission to both Green Island Human Rights Cultural Park and Jingmei Human Rights Cultural Park on 5/17 (includes guided tours and educational activities).
◎ Yingge Ceramics Museum celebrates International Museum Day 518 by offering a special deal during the event period: the “Museum Building Color-Changing Mug” (original price NT$699) is available for a flat rate of NT$518 at the museum’s cultural goods shop.
◎ The Museum of World Religions offers an 20% discount on entry tickets to the permanent exhibitions and Children's Museum for visitors on 5/16 and 5/17, and a 10% discount at the gift shop.
 
[Taipei City]
◎ Taipei Digital Art Center, Qian Mu’s Former Residence, Taipei Guqin Culture Hall, Lee Kuo-ting’s Former Residence, Futo Street Western-Style Building, and Ximending Red House offer free admission on 104/5/17.
◎ The National Palace Museum offers free admission on 5/18.
◎ The National Taiwan Museum offers a 10% discount at its cooperative store in the main building during Museum Month in May.
◎ The National Museum of History offers a 10% discount on purchases at the He Feng Shui Yue on the second floor and Cutty Sark on the fourth floor on 5/17.
◎ The National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall offers a 5% discount on dining at the Lide Restaurant or shopping at the souvenir center from 5/1–31. Also, spend NT$150 or more at Big Tom Restaurant near Cuihu Lake and receive a cup of black tea with toffee.
◎ The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Management Office offers a 20% discount on cultural and creative products or publications developed by the memorial hall itself when purchased at the museum shop from 5/16–18.
◎ The Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art offers free admission on 5/17. Additionally, participants in the museum’s special “World Museum Day” events can enter a free lucky draw and may win free exhibition tickets or surprise small gifts.

[Keelung City]
◎ Keelung Story House and Ghost Festival Cultural Relics Museum offer free admission on 5/17.
◎ Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum offers free admission on 5/16 and 5/17.
 
[Taoyuan City]
◎ Taoyuan City Indigenous Peoples Cultural Affairs Hall offers free admission on 5/17 and 5/18. Visitors who check in and like the hall’s Facebook page on 5/17 using their mobile phones will receive one of 50 limited-edition souvenirs.
 
[Hsinchu City]
◎ Image Museum offers free admission on 5/17.
 
[Hsinchu County]
◎ Hsiao Ruso Art Park, Laohukou Catholic Church Cultural Hall, Shuqi Forest Cultural Hall, Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park, Hsinchu County History Museum, Deng Nan-guang Image Memorial Hall, and Jin Guangcheng Cultural Hall all offer free admission on 5/17.
◎ At Laohukou Catholic Church Cultural Hall on 5/17, show your handbook to get a 20% discount on “Hope Sauce Chili Sauce” at Mana Flavor Restaurant (partner store), and a 10% discount on health teas at Mana Garden Teahouse.
 
[Miaoli County]
◎ Shanbanqiao Face-Painting Culture Hall and Duck Box Treasure offer free admission on 5/17.
◎ Spend over NT$1,000 at Duck Box Treasure on 5/17 for a 10% discount (excluding special offer items); participants in the DIY painting activity can join the "Duck Wrapping" game once.

【Taichung City】
◎ National Museum of Natural Science: Free admission to exhibition halls on 5/17 (excluding the 3D Theater).
◎ Taichung Artists’ Gallery: Enjoy a 5% discount on purchases at the Harbor Arts Center Employee Cooperative on 5/16 and 5/17.
◎ Taiwan Folk Village: Free admission on 5/17 with the 518 Guidebook.

◎ Taiwan Traditional Print Special Collection Room: A series of unique rubbings will be available for visitors to print on 5/17. Those who check in at the venue or share information about the 518 event will receive a cultural and creative souvenir or an exquisite print.
