In the blooming month of May, besides the golden shower trees and hydrangeas, the annual high-mountain rhododendron season at Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area has also arrived. From now until the end of May is the best time to admire the flowers. Hike up high to enjoy the views of Hehuanshan’s peaks, where the beautiful blossoms of high-mountain rhododendrons create a refreshing and delightful scene.

The Hehuanshan mountain range consists of Hehuanshan Main Peak, East Peak, North Peak, West Peak, Shimentai Mountain, Shimentai North Peak, and Hehuanshan Sharp Peak. East Peak features steep and majestic terrain. Visitors can start their climb from behind Songxue Building or the ski lodge entrance, winding up through Yushan bamboo grass. From the summit, you can take in the panoramic views of Hehuanshan Sharp Peak, Shimentai Mountain, and Hehuanshan Main Peak with excellent visibility. Along the trail, you may even encounter birds like the yellow-bellied bulbul or vinaceous rosefinch.
