Havana is the capital of Cuba, established by the Spanish in 1514. With a population of 2.5 million, it is the largest city in the Caribbean and the economic hub of Cuba. Havana also boasts a rich history and architectural heritage, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

What amazes visitors upon arriving in Havana is its unique atmosphere. Due to the long-term U.S. embargo implemented in 1962 and the late-opening tourism market policies of the local government, Cuba’s economic growth has been slow, preventing it from keeping pace with the rapid industrialization of other countries during the same period, giving off a feeling that “time seems to have stopped in the 1960s.”
