Valley of Flowers National Park, located in Uttarakhand in the western Himalayas, is an area discovered by Frank S. Smythe in 1931 when he got lost in the Himalayas. At that moment, what came into view was an endless sea of flowers, a sight that captivated every explorer's eyes. Thus, the area came to be known as the "Valley of Flowers." Although locals were aware of this place, they believed it to be a heavenly abode of fairies and did not wish for any visitors to disturb the valley.

Situated at an altitude of 3,600 meters, Valley of Flowers National Park is a dreamlike destination accessible only by trekking and mountaineering, with the trailhead to reach the valley located 16 kilometers away.

Due to the extreme climate of the Himalayas, along with unique temperature and weather conditions, visitors cannot explore Valley of Flowers National Park year-round. The park is only open from early May to late September. During this time, those who venture here can witness a floral spectacle found nowhere else on Earth. Moreover, since different flowers bloom at different times under varying weather conditions, the floral landscape shifts colors over time—from green to golden yellow—allowing visitors to witness the incredible beauty of nature firsthand.
