The diet in Tokushima and Kagawa prefectures in Shikoku, Japan, is centered around udon noodles. Among them, Kagawa Prefecture, known for its wheat production, is especially famous for Sanuki udon. In the itinerary launched this winter by Lianjia Travel, tourists will enjoy an authentic udon noodle set meal and visit popular attractions in Tokushima, Kagawa, Hyogo, and the Tango Peninsula.

▲ Ritsurin Garden is the most renowned garden in Shikoku
Located in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, Ritsurin Garden — rated as a Michelin three-star attraction — has a history of over 300 years. Covering a total area of 75 hectares, the park features six ponds, 13 artificial hills, and more than 10 pavilions. The natural scenery blends seamlessly with man-made landscaping and architecture, adding depth to the overall landscape. Even after World War II, this Edo-period daimyo garden has been perfectly preserved.

▲ Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Next, head to Hyogo Prefecture to see Himeji Castle, one of Japan’s Three Great Castles alongside Kumamoto Castle and Matsuyama Castle. Himeji Castle is one of the best-preserved ancient castles in modern Japanese castle architecture and has often served as a filming location for period dramas. Its elegant white walls resemble a soaring white heron, hence it is also called Shirasagi-jo (White Heron Castle).

▲ The tectonic movement formed the sandbar known as Amanohashidate.
If you visit the Miyazu Bay area on the Tango Peninsula, you’ll see a lush green sandbar stretching across to the other side. This sandbar is called Amanohashidate, about three kilometers long and 40 to 100 meters wide, covered with over 8,000 ancient pine trees. Visitors can bend down at the Kamasan Park’s Tsune no Ma Observation Deck to view the sea and sky inverted between their legs, appreciating the dragon-like Amanohashidate from a unique angle. By joining the Lianjia Travel itinerary, tourists can take a cable car to enjoy a panoramic view of Amanohashidate from the sky.

▲ Ine-cho Funaya (boat houses) have been selected as one of Japan’s 18 Most Beautiful Villages
On the Tango Peninsula, there is another unique attraction — the Ine-cho Funaya located within Ine Bay. Around Ine Bay, there are approximately 230 boat houses arranged in a grid pattern, making the shoreline houses appear to float on the sea during high tide. Visitors can also take a sightseeing boat to admire the seascape dotted with boat houses.
