The world is full of wonders. About 60 miles off the coast of Belize City, near the Honduras Blue Hole, lies a vast underwater blue hole of endless deep blue. With its mysterious and perfectly round opening, it resembles a deep blue eye of the sea when viewed from high above. Aside from being the world’s largest underwater cave, it is also considered one of the top ten geological wonders of the world.

The circular opening of the blue hole is surrounded by coral reefs, creating a serene expanse of tranquil blue. The opening has a diameter of 304 meters and a depth of 145 meters, forming a limestone sinkhole. This unique landscape was initially shaped during the late Ice Age when sea levels were lower, and later became the astonishing sight we see today as sea levels rose. Its depth of 145 meters gives it an especially deep blue hue. Some say it looks like a deep blue eye of the sea from high above, while others describe it as the belly button of the ocean.
