An overseas global travel website’s campaign to select Asia’s best aquariums has ranked the top 25 aquariums in Asia for 2015. Among them, the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium in Pingtung, Taiwan, achieved an impressive 4th place in this evaluation, not only moving up one spot from last year but also claiming the top spot among choices in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Located in Checheng Township, Pingtung, the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium was previously awarded 5th place as Asia’s best aquarium last year. This year, it moved up another spot, becoming one of the top 1% of Asia’s best attractions globally. Covering over 60 hectares, the museum is mainly divided into the Taiwan Waters Pavilion, the Coral Kingdom Pavilion, and the Global Waters Pavilion. The Taiwan Waters Pavilion uses educational methods along with professional simulation techniques to fully present the rich ecology of Taiwan and its surrounding waters, taking visitors on a journey from mountain to sea. The Coral Kingdom Pavilion, themed around the South China Sea, creates a dreamlike underwater palace. Follow the path of navigators’ explorations through Asia’s longest underwater tunnel to admire the beautiful marine world. The Global Waters Pavilion features the world’s first 3D virtual reality landless aquarium, transcending time and distance to take people back to the ancient oceans hundreds of millions of years ago. The Polar Waters area displays penguins from Antarctica and puffins from the Arctic, whose adorable appearances are especially popular with children. The entire complex combines natural ecology with interactive education, making it a highly popular attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
