The most talked-about animated movie of 2015, the Minions, has charmed the world with its massive appeal. Not only was the movie a huge hit, but its related merchandise has also been incredibly popular. Although the movie has now left theaters, this yellow craze continues to sweep on. In Japan, in collaboration with Universal Studios, businesses have organized a large-scale Minions marathon event called "Minions Funrun & MUSIC FESTIVAL JAPAN" across six Japanese cities starting in 2016. During the event, participants will not only see thousands of real-life Minions running together but will also enjoy live DJ performances by American singer Pharrell Williams.

All fans who participate in the Minions Funrun will receive a full set of Minions costumes and a limited-edition medal, allowing all participants to transform into cheerful yellow Minion buddies and run together in joy — just imagining it is loads of fun. The event will be held in six regions across Japan, including Hokkaido, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, and Tokyo. The confirmed dates so far are Tokyo (February 13 and 14, 2016) and Okinawa (March 26 and 27, 2016), while the schedules for the other four cities have yet to be announced.
