Tokyo Disneyland Parade Joins In！Peppa Pig Also Participates in Taipei Lantern Festival Street Parade Carnival

The highlight of the Taipei Lantern Festival, the “Street Parade Carnival,” kicks off on the final day of the festival, Sunday, February 24. The annual closure of Zhonghua Road for the parade also ushers in the last wave of excitement for the nine-day Taipei Lantern Festival.

 

During the performance, Disney characters will appear on the specially designed parade float “Dream Cruiser III” to greet the audience. The lineup includes the “Tokyo Disneyland Resort Goodwill Ambassador, Ayumi Noguchi,” “Tokyo Disneyland Resort Dancers,” as well as about 80 local children from Taipei. A special stage performance has also been arranged exclusively for the Taipei Lantern Festival, making it a unique segment of the Street Parade Carnival. From the start of the festival until the 23rd, the parade float “Dream Cruiser III” was displayed at the intersection of Section 1, Zhonghua Road and Section 2, Hankou Street, becoming one of the most popular photo spots of the festival, with visitors eagerly awaiting the big parade day.

Peppa Pig and her little brother George, who are featured in the “I Love Peppa Pig” lantern area at Taipei Lantern Festival’s Travel Plaza, will also join the street parade on Sunday. They will be accompanied by members of the “Octonauts.” Additionally, the beloved OPEN！ familywill make their first appearance in the Taipei Lantern Festival parade.

Also joining the parade is Taipei’s most popular mascot, Bearbang, who will celebrate along Zhonghua Road with representatives from Japan’s sister cities: “Chiba-kun” from Chiba Prefecture, “Yasuharu-kun” from Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture, friends from Matsuyama City in Ehime Prefecture, and Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture. Last year’s highly acclaimed Bearbang parade float during National Day celebrations will also make a comeback and is sure to be a major highlight. The main lantern float of the festival, the “Piggy” float, will be led by DJ Zhong Hua from the former popular hip-hop group Da Mouth, dressed as an Indian hunter leading six little wild boars in song.


The Best New Artist winners of the 26th Golden Melody Awards, the boxing band BOXING, will sing from the afternoon parade all the way through the evening closing ceremony, creating a massive party in Ximending with the latest trends in electronic music culture among young people. In addition, the Formosa Circus is a regular at major events in Taipei and will perform while parading this time; various performance groups showcasing diverse styles, such as the Hakka-flavored “Dongdong Dance Troupe,” a heavy metal band float, and the “Fierce Dragon Crosses the River Fight” float, will demonstrate the vibrant variety of this year’s Street Parade Carnival.
