Located in central London, the over-400-year-old Covent Garden Market is one of the must-visit urban attractions for many travelers to the UK. Recently, it invited French artist Charles Pétillon to decorate the space with an installation of dreamy cloud-like lights made from 100,000 white balloons, adding a touch of romance to this historic and charming market square.

Charles Pétiillon is known for creating imaginative and stunning works using balloons as his medium. This time, with the theme “Heartbeat,” the installation highlights Covent Garden’s significant historical role in London since the 19th century. The artwork features 100,000 white balloons of varying sizes, forming a structure that spans 54 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and weighs 320 kilograms. The vast balloon cloud covers the entire Covent Garden roof, and with the lighting effects, it showcases an astonishing vitality, prompting many visitors to take out their phones and cameras for photos.

The “Heartbeat” exhibition not only showcases the importance of Covent Garden in the daily lives of Londoners and its historical significance but also aims to connect history with the present.
