As autumn approaches, not only can you enjoy the romantic sight of maple leaves turning red, but Xinzhu’s Weiwijia has also officially announced the start of its persimmon cake season from September 10. During this period, visitors to the Weiwijia Persimmon Cake Sightseeing Farm can see rows of golden persimmons laid out on racks, basking in the sunlight and soaking up the sun like little golden orbs, creating a beautiful autumn-exclusive scene.

With the advancement of technology, most persimmon cake producers now use electric ovens to make persimmon cakes—resulting in lower spoilage rates, as well as saving time and labor. However, Xinzhu’s Weiwijia has long remained committed to preserving a century-old traditional method of sun-drying persimmon cakes. Leveraging the unique climate and geographical advantages of Xinzhu, they continue to pass down this traditional delicacy and craftsmanship. This process, which allows the persimmon cakes to absorb ample sunlight and the Ninth Month Winds, enhances their flavor and has earned them greater recognition.

In contrast, the seven to nine days of sun-drying required not only demand more time and labor, making their costs significantly higher than regular persimmon cakes, but also make it difficult to compete with low-cost persimmon cakes imported from mainland China—resulting in tough business conditions. Fortunately, support from photography enthusiasts has helped them pull through. As a result, Weiwijia warmly welcomes everyone to come and capture the seasonal scenery of sun-dried persimmons. They’ve even added railings and a roof on the second floor specifically for photographers, allowing everyone to shoot safely and comfortably.

From September 10 until January of the following year, Weiwijia offers free admission every day. In addition to enjoying the traditional cultural beauty of sun-dried persimmons—which satisfies travelers wanting to photograph persimmon cakes—visitors to Weiwijia can also join orchard guided tours, try their hand at DIY persimmon cake kneading, persimmon dyeing, and other enriching activities to experience the various joys of autumn persimmons.
