In the suburbs of Taoyuan, there is a natural cave wonderland called the "Sanmin Bat Cave." A massive cave is crowned with a waterfall formed by spring water cascading from above. The spectacular cavern, along with the surrounding majestic mountains and valleys, has earned the bat cave the beautiful nickname of "Water Curtain Cave."

The astonishing craftsmanship of the Bat Cave has attracted many visitors. However, due to littering that caused environmental damage, as well as the aging facilities such as trails and viewing platforms, the Bat Cave was closed in September 2018 for environmental restoration. The trails were completely renovated, and new landscape platforms were added. After half a year, the site has finally been completed and is expected to reopen during the 228 holiday period.

The Bat Cave was once a habitat for wild bats. After being discovered by local residents, more and more people visited, causing the bats to migrate elsewhere. Nowadays, bats are rarely seen in the Bat Cave.
Hidden between the riverbank cliffs, the Bat Cave is truly a world of its own. The cave entrance is semi-circular, and the interior features a unique crescent-shaped formation. The spacious interior can accommodate up to a thousand people, making it a rare and naturally formed giant cave. To enter the Bat Cave, you must first walk along a 1.3-kilometer forest trail where you can enjoy the murmuring stream and the beautiful valley scenery. During the wet season, you can also admire the waterfall in front of the cave. The environment is refreshing and pleasant, making it a great summer retreat for escaping the heat.
The Bat Cave is currently in the dry season; the waterfall can be admired during the wet season.
