Want to stroll with your lover along train tracks? You don’t have to travel all the way to Ukraine’s Tunnel of Love. Japanese photographer Keisuke shared a photo showing a tree-lined corridor with a small train running through it. In other words, you can fulfill this dream in Japan too. However, the photographer seems to be an advocate of “protecting local ecology by not disclosing the location of hidden gems” (related report), as he did not specify where the photo was taken.

This is where train enthusiasts step in. Sharp-eyed netizens quickly pointed out that the scene is likely near Honchoshi Station on the Choshi Electric Railway in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The line runs from Choshi City to Togawa, with only 10 stations along its roughly 6.4-kilometer route. The trains consist of just one or two carriages, making it a typical rural railway. Years ago, it faced closure due to poor management, but later shifted to selling food and souvenirs as side businesses and launched a “Save the Choshi Electric Railway” campaign that garnered nationwide attention.
As for the “original” Ukrainian Tunnel of Love, it is located in the small town of Kleven in northwestern Ukraine. This forest-spanning train track is enclosed by trees and green vines, forming an arched corridor that feels poetic. The small railway is privately owned, stretching about 4 kilometers, with around three trains passing daily to transport timber for nearby factories.
