Last updated 2026-11-08 — Compared to fancy restaurants, street snacks are my daily go-to for filling up. On this holiday, I came to Qidu with friends, and a local recommended this old-school "Fengshen Steamed Chicken." It’s said that not only is the steamed chicken delicious, but the sliced noodle dish is also quite unique, and the various side dishes have their own highlights. Since I was feeling a bit peckish, I decided to give it a try.

Compared to big restaurants, snacks are my daily go-to for filling up. On this holiday, I came to Qidu with friends. A local recommended this old-school Feng Shen White-Cut Chicken. Apparently, besides the delicious white-cut chicken, their knife-cut noodles are also quite unique, and the various side dishes have their own highlights. Since I was feeling a bit peckish, we decided to give it a try.

▲Feng Shen White-Cut Chicken is located in Qidu District, Keelung City, at No. 112, Fuwu Street, near the intersection of Fuwu Street and Ba Liu Street. The exterior is actually quite understated—you might easily walk right past it.

▲The dining area is divided between indoors and the covered sidewalk seating outside the entrance. The low desks and chairs give off a nostalgic vibe.

▲Although the shop is named after white-cut chicken, Feng Shen also offers knife-cut noodles as a main dish, along with a variety of other side dishes. All the sides are sold until they run out—come late and you might miss out.

▲A bowl of knife-cut noodles is only NT$30. It’s not a huge portion, but it comes with two slices of meat. I think the price is very reasonable.

▲The broth here is especially refreshing and slightly sweet. After asking, I learned that the base is chicken stock—no wonder it never gets tiresome, even if you drink a lot. My friend and I almost finished all the soup.

▲The noodles are all cooked to order, ensuring the best texture. Once they soak up the savory, sweet chicken broth, each big slurp is incredibly satisfying.

▲The star of the show, the white-cut chicken. There were only a few of us today, so we didn’t order too much. As soon as it arrived, the glossy, oily surface looked extremely tempting—just visually, it’s enough to whet your appetite.

▲The chicken is cooked to perfection—not dry or tough at all, and it retains the natural tenderness and sweetness of the meat. Especially with this free-range chicken, the texture is completely different from regular broiler chicken. The meat is very firm, getting more flavorful the more you chew rather than drying out.

▲The other side dishes were still available when we arrived, so my friend and I each ordered one to try.

▲I’m a huge fan of chicken liver pâté, and Feng Shen’s version is right up my alley. The texture is super smooth, with a sweet flavor that’s absolutely delicious even without any dipping sauce.

▲Shark meat smoke—smoked shark served with skin and flesh. The combination of the chewy, fragrant skin and tender meat creates a rich texture with layers of flavor, and the smoky aroma is very enticing.

──Squid is served completely unseasoned, presented just as it is, which shows how confident the shop is about its freshness. The texture is crisp but not too tough, and a dash of wasabi soy sauce makes it perfect.
