Taoyuan’s urban oasis and disaster prevention park “Fenghe Park” has undergone a major transformation, with the children’s playground now featuring the hottest roller slide. Following in the footsteps of the roller slides at Zhonghe’s Jinhe Sports Park in the north, Chiayi’s Bantianyan Ziyun Temple Park in the south, and Kaohsiung’s Hamasen Slide, “Fenghe Park” adds a 50-meter roller slide that’s creating quite a buzz!*
As frequent visitors to unique parks, how could we miss this? We finally waited for the opening day to bring Yo here for some sliding fun.

Fenghe Park boasts vast green spaces planted with a variety of flowers. When blooming season arrives, the entire park is filled with blossoms, turning Fenghe Park into a giant garden!*

The expansive lawn and green space make it a perfect spot for picnics and exercise. The scenery before your eyes is truly refreshing. If it weren’t for the morning dew, we’d almost want to roll around on it ourselves.

Arriving at the newly built playground, we found the swing area on artificial turf had only two swings — a bit of a letdown, considering how large the space is. Are the two swings meant to teach kids about queuing and courtesy?
Or maybe the champion of unique park swings, Yilan’s Baiyun Park in Wangxi, takes the cake — it’s the first in Taiwan with a circular swing setup, offering plenty of swings with no need to wait in line!*

We arrived early, and there were no other children around, so swing-loving Yo got to enjoy it to the fullest. A few rounds on the swing didn’t matter — he was laughing with joy!*

Recommended age for using the slide: 3 years and above
The spectacular view is like being in an Okinawan playground — it took our breath away… “It looks like a roller coaster from down here!” Yo’s childlike remark made us laugh — and from afar, it really does kind of look like one!*

The more you look, the more excited you get — come and experience the thrill!*
Looking down from high up can be a bit scary, but actually sliding down, with the wind in your face, is both exciting and fun!*
It’s so funny watching this kid call out at every turn as we weave through the bends—it really adds to the fun of the ride!
Be sure to brake at the end—don’t fly off!
We got hooked after just one ride and couldn’t get enough. Even climbing stairs and waiting in line was worth it. Even we adults couldn’t resist our inner child and ended up queuing up with the kids for several rounds, all enjoying the pure joy of childhood together!
Walking further into the playground, you’ll be amazed by a row of grind slides lined up in a row—so many different designs, perfect for any slide enthusiast!
My favorite is this curvy slide with a unique shape—it’s super fast and even more fun to ride!
The bottom is paved with wooden blocks to cushion the impact, but even so, the end of the slide is still very fast. You have to teach your child to “brake,” otherwise they’ll get to enjoy the thrill of flying. Up, Yo is already a slide pro and doesn’t need us to remind him to brake—he does it naturally. When he wants to fly, he doesn’t brake, controlling his speed just right!
Kids are truly natural players. They learn techniques from play experiences, gradually learning to protect themselves and develop physical abilities. Playing in the park is truly the best learning environment for children!
The narrow straight slides are super fast too!
This area adds a bit more of a challenge.
There are also wide grind slides where multiple kids can hold hands and slide down together—it’s even more fun that way!
Attention, little soldiers—start crawling forward!
You can take the stairs to go down the slides, or you can challenge the “arc climbing frame” on the artificial turf slope for an added level of difficulty and a greater sense of accomplishment!
The three narrow grind slides are also really exciting.
The most interesting part is the wooden stumps with varying difficulty levels—they’re uneven, some thick and some thin, testing the kids’ balance and climbing skills. Yo had to step over some and climb others, taking a bit of time to reach the end. Play should be like this—setting some challenges for kids to explore and figure out on their own, so they can learn and grow. Once they overcome the challenge, the sense of achievement is indescribable. Encourage the kids to keep pushing forward toward the future!
This one is probably a slide, I remember playing something similar at Wanfang No. 4 Park before. But the distance between the two sides is a bit wide here—if you’re a kid Yo’s size, it’s hard to slide down even if you straddle it with both legs. So the little rascal turned it into fitness equipment instead—hilarious!
Taoyuan Fenghe Park has also added seating areas within the playground, making it convenient for parents to sit and watch their kids.
There’s also a sandpit area loved by little sand enthusiasts, with sand tables and sunshade sails. It would be even better if the area could be a bit larger. Also, it’d be great if they could add a fence to keep dogs out. The best sandpit protection measures I’ve seen so far are at Chiayi Cultural Park!
The washing area is quite small, with only two faucets—it might get crowded when there are lots of people!
Originally already a beautiful Taoyuan-themed park, Fenghe Park has become an even bigger highlight of Taoyuan after adding the playground. Whether it’s the roller slides or the grind slides, they’re the smoothest and fastest we’ve ever played on. We hope everyone takes their kids here to have fun, but also reminds them of the importance of taking care of public property. Don’t forget to take your trash with you when you leave and keep the park clean!
If we get the chance, we’ll come back to slide, have picnics, exercise, and immerse ourselves in nature, basking in its green healing power!
