Located at the midpoint of the Northern Cross-Island Highway, Mingchi, also known as “Chidian,” sits at an altitude between 1,150 and 1,700 meters. With a cool and pleasant climate, it is a famous summer retreat in northern Taiwan. It not only features a fairy-tale-like alpine lake and rich forest and ecological landscapes, but birds, butterflies, squirrels, mandarin ducks, and mallards can often be seen darting through the woods. Originally a Qilan nursery, the Qilan Forest Recreation Area is located at the confluence of the Lanyang River, Duowang River, and Tiangu’er River, featuring naturally stunning scenery.
