It’s that time of year again when the silvergrass blooms on Yangmingshan. Every year during this season, Yangmingshan National Park hosts the “Ancient Trails & Autumn Silvergrass” event, where visitors can explore the Yulu Ancient Trail guided by interpreters, discovering the charming allure of Grass Mountain through the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of autumn silvergrass.

This year’s Ancient Trails & Autumn Silvergrass tour begins at the Shanghuangxi Parking Lot. On the uphill sections, participants can experience the toil of ancient villagers who transported fish overnight, while also encountering rich cultural relics along the way, including clay pipes used for transporting white clay ore, Xu Yan Bridge, and the fields along the grand road. Beyond its cultural and historical significance, this ancient trail boasts diverse geology and plant ecology. With detailed explanations from guides, walk along the Jinkouli Grand Road—also known as the Yulu Ancient Trail—and discover a different side of Yangmingshan in the silvergrass-draped autumn.
