Osaka’s iconic Dotonbori Pocky Running Man billboard, which debuted its sixth-generation design in late 2014, is now introducing something new. From today until the 8th, a limited-time “Running Man” growth story animation will be shown, featuring visuals of the Pocky Running Man growing from a baby all the way to adulthood, inviting visitors to enjoy the character’s developmental journey.

The Pocky Running Man Growth Story began airing at 6:15 p.m. on October 1st. The screen initially shows a crawling baby, then shows him learning to stand. As he reaches his teenage years, he fearlessly runs through wind and rain until he becomes an adult, with the phrase “This isn’t a goal, but a beginning” appearing at the end of the video. The message aims to attract more fans’ attention and anticipation for Pocky, and also represents a new phase for the Glico Group. The roughly one-minute animation will light up daily 30 minutes after sunset, and will play on the hour, as well as at 15, 30, and 45 minutes past, running through October 8th. Fans visiting Dotonbori during this period should keep an eye out.
