The Sea of Clouds Observation Deck at Hokkaido’s Hoshino Resorts Tomamu is famous for allowing visitors to bathe up close in cascading clouds, attracting many tourists during its open season. Starting from September this year, a brand-new Sea of Clouds Walk has been added, letting you do more than just admire the view from afar—you can now experience the novelty of walking among the clouds firsthand!

The newly added Sea of Clouds Walk “Cloud Walk,” approximately 200 meters long, is intentionally built in a cloud-like curved deck shape on a slope. Walking along it, visitors can enjoy a 210-degree panoramic view of the majestic mountain scenery, and when the sea of clouds appears, it creates an illusion of strolling above the clouds.

The best months to enjoy the spectacular sea of clouds are between May and October, with this year’s opening period ending on October 13th. Depending on weather conditions, there may be days when the sea of clouds isn’t visible or the area is closed. Visitors planning to go are advised to call the Unkai Dial (Sea of Clouds Hotline) or check the official Hokkaido Hoshino Resorts Tomamu website for daily opening status and sea of clouds viewing probability.
